The new Samsung Galaxy Watch comes with a 1.2-inch or 1.1-inch OLED screen which has a layer of Gorilla DX+ glass and the company’s signature rotating bezel for navigating around the interface. In addition, Samsung claims it’s running on a customized chipset which allows for a “several-day” battery life, over 45 hours in the case of the 42mm option and 80+ hours on the 46mm model. The watch is water resistant too and has an exterior that’s rated for military-grade durability. Being an Apple Watch competitor, the Galaxy Watch, of course, also comes with LTE support but sadly, that variant is not available in India yet. Obviously, all the usual fitness features are present too. Samsung says the Galaxy Watch can automatically detect about thirty-nine exercises. In addition, the watch has a heart rate sensor and can monitor your sleep routines. It still runs on Samsung’s own Tizen OS instead of Google’s Android Wear.

There’s even a feature which, if your heart rate is rising, suggests you relax. Samsung’s smartwatch app ecosystem now has over 60,000 watch faces, although it didn’t reveal the number of third-party apps available. You can also configure a daily briefing which will send you traffic alerts, forthcoming appointment schedule and more in the morning. As for the specifications, it’s powered by a Samsung Exynos 9110 dual-core chipset paired with 768MB of RAM, 472mAh/270mAh battery, and 4GB of onboard storage. Commenting further on the launch, Aditya Babbar, General Manager, Samsung India, said, “The Galaxy Watch extends our smartwatch tradition of blending timeless design with revolutionary technology. It is the perfect fashion accessory that can change completely to go with your look. And beneath its refined exterior, Galaxy Watch is a beast of a device, with features that keep up with a wide variety of activities & lifestyles. Put simply, Galaxy Watch is a testament to our single-minded aim of meaningful innovation. That is why it leads the industry with a jaw-dropping battery back-up that can last days on a single charge, delivering an uninterrupted & seamless experience that changes your lives.”
