Hyperice Hypervolt Go is an electronic massage device that is made to provide a therapeutic and relaxing experience. It is used for improving blood circulation and relieving pain in the muscles and joints. This device combines soothing vibration and other features that make it a potent tool for improving muscle strength and flexibility. Before we get started with the Hypervolt Go review, let’s understand the problem it’s trying to solve.

What’s the need for a percussion massage gun?

After a long day at work, your muscles can be tight and stiff. It would help if you loosened them up so you could get some relief. Massage therapy has been proven to help with muscle recovery, especially when applied to the sore muscles after an intense workout or tough working day. The problem is that traditional massage tools are uncomfortable and hard to use. Hyperice has created a portable massage gun – one that’s easy to use, comfortable, powerful enough for any task, and affordable enough for everyone! A percussion massage gun is a device that uses vibrations to massage the muscles. It is used to relieve pain, improve blood circulation, and relax the muscles. A percussion massage gun is a great tool for anyone who wants to improve their muscle health. Percussion massage works by providing a deep-tissue massage.

Earlier, people believed these were meant only for athletes and bodybuilders. But, now everyone is using these devices to improve their muscle health and get rid of aches. The Hypervolt Go is one such percussion massage gun that comes with various features and benefits.

Who is Hyperice?

Usually, we jump right in with the review of a product but considering both the product and the brand are quite new in India, let’s take a small detour and talk about Hyperice. Hyperice is an American company that manufactures high-quality sports performance and recovery products. The brand is considered one of the best options on the market for people looking for a massage gun.

They have a suite of fitness products, including massage guns. The guns are well-made and durable, with several different features that set them apart from the competition.

Hypervolt Go: Design & Build

The Hyperice Hypervolt Go is a premium percussion massage gun that has been meticulously engineered with high-quality components. It weighs just around 680 grams and is one of the most user-friendly massage guns on the market. Its intuitive operation makes it easy to use for anyone, regardless of their experience with massage guns. Hyperice has other massage guns in their repertoire, and Hypervolt Go is the one designed with portability in mind. It can fit easily in your carry bag, and you can take this anywhere. The solidly built device has an attractive composite shell that provides a good grip. This device is ergonomically designed to fit well in hand. As a result of the angled handle, the device is more ergonomic and reduces wrist strain.

More importantly, it’s TSA approved, so you can carry it while flying too. In addition, to highlight the Go’s travel capabilities, Hyperice has included different adapters in the box for power outlets in other countries. The operation is pretty straightforward. Hold the power button for 2 seconds until the ring LED illuminates to turn the device on or off. A nice touch is the location of the power button along the handle. It feels like a trigger on a gun! You change speeds by pressing it quickly. The bottom end of the handle has a ring LED battery indicator which is again a nice touch. Hypervolt Go is designed to provide a deep kneading massage that mimics a professional masseuse. In addition, it comes with two interchangeable head attachments to customize the device depending on the area you are focusing on.

If you want to hit large muscle groups like the quads and hamstrings, you’ll need a Flat Head. A flat head will also allow you to work your back and chest. Bullet Head is used to target trigger points in muscles (shoulder blades, ligaments, and muscle knots). Perfect for feet and hands.

Performance

The Hypervolt Go delivers up to 3,200 percussions per minute. This helps to relax and recover muscles quickly. It is designed for athletes or anyone who wants an intense massage experience. In addition, it comes with patented QuietGlide technology for near-silent operation. This feature makes it perfect for use in public places without disturbing others. It comes with three different speed modes. Level one is for minor fatigue, level two and three are for major/deeper muscle fatigue. Hyperice recommends using level three for athletes and those with higher pain tolerance. Personally, as someone who only recently started with a fitness regimen after years and decades of a sedentary lifestyle, I found Hypervolt Go at level one to be more than enough. In addition, it provided a good massage without being too intense or painful. This massage gun was even more appreciated by my wife, who has been suffering from lower back pain for a few months now. Hypervolt Go managed to provide temporary relief whenever she used it. Hypervolt Go was not a cure for her back pain, but it did help to take the edge off and provide some relief. For non-athletes, we ever had to go beyond level one in terms of speed, but technically, the Stall force on Hypervolt Go is pretty low. Stall force measures how much pressure is needed to prevent a device’s motor from stalling. A device performs better when it is harder to stall it. Hyperice doesn’t mention anything about the Stall force, but it’s definitely on the lower side. And that’s mostly in comparison with other non-portable percussion massage guns.

Hyperice App

One aspect of the Hypervolt Go experience which doesn’t get enough attention is the Hyperice App. The Hypervolt Go comes with a free Hyperice App that can be downloaded on any iOS or Android device.

Unlike Hypervolt and other superior products in the lineup, Hypervolt Go doesn’t come with Bluetooth support and hence can’t connect to the Hyperice app. But that doesn’t mean you can ignore the app. The app lists several routines, each with a specific set of exercises. On iOS, the Hyperice app connects with the Apple Health app and suggests specific routines early in the morning based on your activities on the previous day. You can watch the videos or read the instructions and then follow along with Hypervolt Go to help improve your massage experience. For someone who is very new to fitness, these videos were very helpful as I could choose the muscle to work on, and they showed exactly how I should go about it.

The app also offers tips and tricks, product news, community support, as well as links to Hyperice’s social media channels.

Battery Life

With a capacity of 2350 mAh, the battery will last for around two and a half hours. But it drains faster when you use Hypervolt Go at the highest speed. And it needs roughly two hours to charge it back to 100%. As it charges, the battery indicator will flash. The flashing stops when the battery is fully charged, and the indicator goes solid green. It can last for several days before it needs to be charged again. However, the biggest disadvantage is that it isn’t USB-C compatible, which is inexplicable since most mini massagers these days come with USB-C charging.

Hypervolt Go Review: Verdict

Overall, Hypervolt Go is a great device that can provide an intense massage experience when needed without having to go to a professional masseuse. Its biggest competitor is the Theragun Mini, but I haven’t managed to test that since it’s not being sold in India. In fact, in India, there are some low-quality knockoffs from the likes of Caresmith, Vandelay, Lifelong, and others. While they are priced 50 to 75% lower, it’s really tough to recommend them for something as important as percussion massage. At Rs 16,999 in India, Hypervolt Go is definitely on the pricier side. But Hyperice has managed to sweeten the deal a bit by providing the Applicator Set (worth Rs 2000) for free. In the US, the Hypervolt Go is priced at $159, which is a much sweeter deal compared to the Indian pricing. The company is only getting started in India and has already roped in Virat Kohli as its brand ambassador. We hope to see more products at better price points in the coming months. If you are looking for non-Hyperice portable massage guns, then Theragun mini is a good alternative to Hypervolt Go. Then there is Fishda Double Massage Head Fascia Gun, Naipo Deep Tissue Massager, Recoverfun Mini and Sportneer Mini 3.
