The Zenfone Zoom was actually announced last year and it boasts about its imaging capabilities including the fact that it is the thinnest phone with 3x optical zoom. In fact the phone had been put up on sale only last month in Taiwan and although it was initially announced that the Zoom will make to the US markets first now it seems otherwise. The Zenfone Zoom comes with “most advanced photography focused smartphone” tag and it claims to incorporate most of the features that a full-fledged DSLR camera would have. The 13-Megapixel primary sensor will come with laser autofocus, Optical Image Stabilisation and is powered by a quad core processor (Intel Atom Z3580 clocked at 2.3GHz) paired with 4GB of RAM. The dual-colour Real Tone flash will help in achieving the perfect lighting for the subject. The 10-element lenses with 3X optical zoom is the show stopper in this phone and all of this is being packaged in just about 11.95mm. The front snapper comes in the form of a 5-Megapixel sensor.
On the storage front, the ZenFone Zoom will offer 64GB of inbuilt memory along with an microSD card slot that can accomdate up to 128GB. The 5.5-inch FHD display comes wrapped with Corning Gorilla 4 protection and the Asus Zenfone Zoom will support 4G (including Indian Bands), 3G, Wi-FI and GPS. The device will run on Android 5.0 Lollipop flavoured with the Asus ZenUI. The pricing details are not yet revealed but the Zoom is expected to cost $399 in the US.
